ClabbersClabbers is a game played by tournament Scrabble players for fun, or occasionally at Scrabble variant tournaments. The name derives from the fact that the words CLABBERS and SCRABBLE form an anagram pair. Its rules are identical to that of Scrabble, except that valid plays are required to form anagrams of acceptable words (i.e., the letters in a word do not need to be placed in the correct order). If a word is challenged, the player who played the word must then name an acceptable word that anagrams to the tiles played. For example, a player wanting to maximize his score for the word FYTTE (variant of ''fit'', a section of a poem) might choose to play it hooking the Y onto the end of the existing word AEGRZ (GAZER), making the word AGRYZE (a variant of ''agrise'' "shudder"; both AGRYZE and AGRISE are only legal in play outside of North America/Israel) and spelling it ETYTF in order to place the F on a premium square.
