Christian Nyby (September 1, 1913 - September 17, 1993) was an United States television and film director. Born in Los Angeles, California, he started his career as a film editor in the 1940s. During this period, he worked on four films for famous director Howard Hawks, of which one (''Red River (1948 movie)'') led to an Academy Award for Film Editing nomination. His first, and best known, film credit as a director was the classic horror film ''The Thing From Another World'' (on which he received uncredited assistance from Hawks, who was the film's producer).
