I'm from Mullingar, Ireland and have been an active member of Wikipedia since May_2004#May_14. Since then i've also started editing on some of the other Wikis (see my sidebar for my other personas.) I've clocked up over 2000 edits over this period - mainly to Irish articles. I vist Wikipedia (almost) daily, and edit significantly at least once a week. My main interests on wikipedia are the Business, Economic, and Corporation articles (particularly those relative to Ireland). In this area i've worked extensively on the Celtic Tiger, Economy of the Republic of Ireland and Ryanair articles - all of which now hold "featured status". Im also very interested in Sport - particularly Swimming - however I have'nt been quite as active in editing Sports related articles. My main non-article activities on Wikipedia are keeping the Wikipedia:Irish Wikipedians' notice board up to date, being awkward on FAC and (recently) trying to keep the WP:AS page "alive". I am highly ambition, quite competitive, well read and an optimist (sorry if this sounds more like a CV than a wiki profile!). I believe the vast majority of people are ''normally'' good and honest. Thus I believe in the Wikipedia idea of a colabrative open source repositery of factual information. At present I am in full-time education. My dream in life is to spend the first 30 years of my working life as a (highly!) successful entrepreneur and the second 30 years as a passionate Philanthropist! Like I said - I don't lack ambition. I try to re-read ever few years and it's definitely my desert-island book. It gets to be heavy going in places, but worth sticking with when it does. I think the layers of meaning get a bit overstated; Joyce used a lot of things (like Homer) to help him structure the book, but the main thing is the writing, and the portrait of a city and a class, the lower-middle class Catholics with a pretension to culture. He also has a few side-swipes at Gaelic-league/IRB type smugness and other aspects of the city that annoyed him. Enjoy. I'll look at Ryanair later today.
