== == Hi Cdc, looks like your adminship vote was successful! Terrific! I'm sure you'll be a valuable asset to Wikipedia as an administrator. Regards and happy editing, User:Wile E. Heresiarch 21:43, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC) == Willy on Wheels == I've been trying to find out the User IP of the Willy on Wheels that I saw your deletion log of his page moves while studying RC. What was it this time?? User:Georgia guy 22:28, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC) :I was just cleaning up the redirects that someone else had created and marked when they were moving pages back. So I don't know. You could check the Special:Log/block. User:Cdc User talk:Cdc 22:36, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC) ==Category:Airports of Hong Kong/Macau== Hi CDC. Thanks for sharing your comment at WP:CFD. I would like to let you know that Hong Kong and Macau are special administrative regions, i.e. special territories or dependent territories, whatever you call it, of the People's Republic of China (PRC). In fact the :category:Airports of the People's Republic of China is now listed on the Wikipedia_talk:Naming_conventions_%28Chinese%29#..of_China_or_..of_the_PRC_.26rarr.3B_..of_mainland_China of Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Chinese)#Political NPOV for renaming, to follow the naming conventions. Furthermore, many of the subcategories of :category:Airports are filled with only one article or two. To name a few, :category:Airports of Aruba, :Category:Airports of Austria, :category:Airports of the Bahamas, :Category:Airports of Bahrain, :Category:Airports_of_Brunei, :category:Airports of the Cayman Islands, :Category:Airports_of_Kuwait, :Category:Airports_of_Singapore and :Category:Airports_of_Vanuatu. — User:InstantnoodUser_talk:Instantnood 06:52, Mar 16, 2005 (UTC) ==Lawrence Reed== Hi, I was just wondering why the bio for Lawrence Reed was deemed a copyright violation? The bio is a public doc that is provided from the website www.mackinac.org...and is passed out for all speeches and events. Thanks, Acl :Generally, to protect Wikipedia we have to assume a cut-and-pasted document that we haven't specifically been given permission for, and isn't obviously public domain, is a copyright violation. I notice that www.mackinac.org has a copyright notice at the bottom of every page, after all. If you're sure it's a mistake, add a note to the entry on Wikipedia: Copyright problems (under March 14) to that effect; you might specifically cite how Wikipedia's use of the text fits within the [http://www.mackinac.org/article.asp?ID=3469 terms of use] on www.mackinac.org. Do keep in mind that the text will probably be changed substantially if it's posted here - that's how things work at Wikipedia - I'm no copyright expert, so I don't know if that would be a problem. User:Cdc User talk:Cdc 05:00, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC) == Lawrence Reed == Amazingly enough, that's not a copyvio. Weird. I looked through the terms of use, and it's fully GFDL-compatable. (It's the first time I've encountered copyrighted text that was.) So now the article just needs to be wikified. . . – User:Quadell (User_talk:Quadell) (Wikipedia:Image sleuthing) 02:59, Mar 22, 2005 (UTC) == Just wanted to ask a question == Hello, this is the author of the DEUD article, which was recently put on the consideration for deletion list. I have a few questions. Is it against Wikipedia policy to report for informational purposes stories that have been written by authors if they have not as yet been published? If so, should the story be submitted to Wikibooks, so that it can be considered published material on the Web? ''unsigned note by User:DVDGuy'' :Hi, thanks for getting in touch about DEUD. There may not be a specific ''policy'' that states exactly that, but in general, I suspect most people on Votes for Deletion (VfD) will agree that articles about most unpublished works are not suitable for Wikipedia. I'd suggest reading Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not to learn more - note that pages that can be interpreted as self-promotion are almost always frowned upon. I don't know anything about Wikibooks, so I can't tell you whether it would fit there; I suspect there are similar policy pages there that would be worth reading. :I recognize that getting your new page listed on Votes for Deletion is a rough introduction to Wikipedia. Please don't take it as a personal attack on you. Based on DEUD, you write very well, and I hope you'll choose to stick around. User:Cdc User talk:Cdc 22:05, 31 Mar 2005 (UTC) == Thank you! == Hi CDC, Thank you for your vote of confidence at WP:RFA. I look forward to helping out in new ways. As I said I ''have'' transwikied the article, so there was no use in closing the discussion with that result. Can you either relist it or un-close the discussion, as we need a consensus as to whether is should be deleted (since transwikied), or kept and expanded. --User:Dmcdevit 01:35, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC) :Ahh... thought it was something like that. Just wanted to let you know that User:RickK has (correctly) listed Don Plett under Wikipedia:Copyright problems and reported this to the Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Don Plett. Since you're the original author of the non-copyvio version [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Don_Plett&oldid=13656852 here], I think you should be the one to copy and paste your text to Don Plett/Temp, per normal copyvio procedures. A lot of RC work involves interfacing with newbies and I'm not sure that someone who thinks the best way to do that is by "whacking" them should be given tools such as the ability to delete articles on sight and blocking.User:Grace Note 07:03, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC) == Lisa Dawn Schneider == Please note that adding a VfD notice is ''not'' a minor edit. Why should it be redirected to its suburb? Find some good reasons and I will permit this. Until then, the article will be reverted. User:Ytgy111 06:55, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC) ==Little Heath School== I've looked at the voting page for this entry and I believe that Keep was the consensus (11 Keep - 1 Suspect Keep - 1 Comment - 8 Merge and Delete / Delete. Why then was this article merged? Thanks, User:Icairns 21:52, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC) :I kept the article, per the consensus. I then WP:BOLD merged and redirected it based on my own decision that it is better covered in Tilehurst. No consensus is needed for that, but you are free to revert my edits; I won't object in this case. I apologize, I should have made this process more clear, though the edit history does reflect it. User:Cdc User talk:Cdc 22:03, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC) == EB2004 list == First, thanks for helping with the Encyclopedia Britannica project! There is a lot to do and we need some creative article-writing. You removed an apparent duplicate entry in page 18. Normally, those duplicates are kept in place because they indicate EB has two entries on distinct topics with the same name, so we need two articles and a disambig before we can polish them off. The disambig (which turns the list entry blue) gets created last. However, in this particular case - well, see my annotation. User:DavidBrooks 03:19, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
