Cadfael Cadomedd ap CynfeddwCadfael ap Cynfeddw (reigned 634–''c.'' 655), also known as '''Cadfael ''Cadomedd''''' ('Battle-Shirker'), was a king of Kingdom of Gwynedd. Little is known about Cadfael's life until after the defeat and death of Cadwallon ap Cadfan of Gwynedd at the Battle of Heavenfield in 634. Cadfael seized power in Gwynedd at the expense of Cadwallon's son Cadwaladr ap Cadwallon of Gwynedd, who was still a child. He was an ally of the Mercians under Penda of Mercia and fought alongside them against the Northumbrians. He participated in Penda's great invasion of Northumbria in 655, but when the two armies met near the river Battle of Winwaed, Cadfael and his men withdrew, thus earning him the name ''Cadomedd''. Cadfael probably did not rule for long afterwards, although his fate is unknown. At some point during the next few years, he was replaced as king, and possibly killed, by Cadwaladr. 650s deaths Celtic Britain Welsh monarchs See other meanings of words starting from letter: CCA | CB | CD | CE | CF | CG | CH | CI | CJ | CK | CL | CM | CN | CO | CP | CR | CS | CT | CU | CW | CX | CY | CZ |Words begining with Cadfael_Cadomedd_ap_Cynfeddw: Cadfael_Cadomedd_ap_Cynfeddw
