CNET

CNET Networks Inc. is an Internet-based mass media corporation based in San Francisco, California co-founded in 1993 by Halsey Minor and Shelby Bonnie. A publicly-held company, its stock trades on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the stock symbol CNET. It has operations in 12 countries. In the mid-1990s, CNET produced several television programs about computers, technology, and the increasingly-popular Internet. These programs were ''CNET Central'', ''The Web (television show)'', ''The New Edge''. These were later followed by ''TV.com''. They all aired on Sci Fi channel (United States) in the United States. In addition, CNET produced another television technology news program called, ''News.com'' in 1999 that aired on CNBC but eventually was cancelled in 2001. In early 2000, CNET Networks acquired comparison shopping site MySimon for 700 million USD. In October of 2000 CNET Networks acquired ZDNet for approximately 1.6B USD.
