CNIP

CNIP, Centre National des Indépendants et des Paysans, was a right-wing France political party founded in 1949. Antoine Pinay was its most popular figure. Between 1958 and 1962 it was the second largest political party, although it lost its importance when Giscard d'Estaing founded the Independant Republicans in 1962. The party was defeated in the general election of November 1962 after 109 of its deputies voted against M. Pompidou's government in a confidence vote on October 51962. Political parties in France
