Butt-Head Astronomer is Apple Computer's nickname for famous astronomer Carl Sagan. In 1994, Apple introduced the PowerMac 7100, codenamed Carl Sagan. This might not have caused any problems if Apple hadn't also released models codenamed Cold Fusion and Piltdown Man at the same time, implying that Carl Sagan was a bluff. The astronomer took offence and threatened to go to court. This resulted in a name change of the 7100, into BHA. When Sagan realized that this meant Butt-Head Astronomer, he made reality of his promise. Apple claimed the right to free speech under the First Amendment and were held free of charge - but were obliged to change the codename.
