Burnley

Burnley is a town in Lancashire in north-west England with a population of around 74,000. The surrounding Burnley (borough) has a population of around 90,000. Burnley grew up as an industrial town in the 19th century, with its economy being based upon the textile industry (mainly cotton weaving). The textile industry has now sharply declined, leaving the town with high unemployment. Burnley received national attention in June 2001 due to disturbances arising from social problems - mainly racial tensions but also social deprivation in White and Asian Communities. See the Burnley Task Force report for more information. The population of Burnley includes around 5,500 people of South Asian heritage and many of these are concentrated in the poorest areas of Burnley. One of which, Daneshouse, is in the top 1% of the most deprived wards in Britain. The town has also seen growing success of the far right-wing politics British National Party in local elections in the borough. Burnley F.C., nicknamed the Clarets, are founder members of The Football League, have played at Turf Moor since 1883 and currently compete in the English Championship. There is a rivalry between Burnley and Blackburn football clubs. Association with the Towneley family, especially around Towneley Park. Towns in Lancashire

"Burnley Football Club" and the "Burnley F.C." on the list in "The Football League" article need to go to the same place.(Their website is reached via Burnleyfootballclub.com though like all league clubs it hijacks to a premiumtv.co.uk site demanding registration...when an article's written, better to have fan site links also). :I've fixed this by changing the link in this article to Burnley F.C.. When the actual article is written at Burnley F.C. it would be worth a redirect being set up at Burnley Football Club. But of course that can't be done until there is an article to redirect to! -- User:Sannse 15:31, 27 Sep 2003 (UTC) To class Burnley a 'recieving a lot of attention in recent years for race riots and racial tensions' is exaggerated and an insulting simplification of the town's situation. I do not claim to have added great detail in my changes but hope that this article can be abridged and enhanced in a more intelligent and less senstionalist tone.

When you create things, it helps tremendously to assign them to an accurate category (see WP:CG for info). If you're ''really'' not sure about categories, at least assign your new articles a stub category (see WP:SC for info). By assigning a category, you help make sure your new articles don't get lost as 'orphans' that are not associated with related topics. User:Feco

Currently located in New York City. As is probably obvious, musical theatre is very important to me.
