BlaarkopBlaarkop is a breed of cattle. ''Blaarkop'' is Dutch language for ''blister head''. Its main breeding area is in Groningen (province), Netherlands. The breed has been mentioned as early as the 14th century. From the 19th century, there are also ''Blaarkoppen'' in the Utrecht (province) and Leiden regions. The Blaarkop breed is sturdily built with matching muscles, a horned head, and strong legs. Both red (60% of the population) and black (40%) Blaarkoppen exist. The body is solid red or black, while the head is white with a red or black ring (''blister'') around the eyes; the tail has a white tip. Bulls are 1,45 to 1,50 metre high and weigh 800 kg. Cows are 1,35 to 1,40 m high and weigh 600 kg. The average milk production is 6000 kg, with 4,35% fat and 3,60% protein. ==External link== *[http://www.cs.rug.nl/~peter/Opslachterzijl/Blaarkop/27101h.jpg Blaarkop cow with calf] Cattle breeds See other meanings of words starting from letter: BBA | BC | BD | BE | BF | BG | BH | BI | BJ | BK | BL | BM | BN | BO | BP | BR | BS | BT | BU | BW | BX | BY | BZ |Words begining with Blaarkop: Blaarkop
