Bachelor of TechnologyA Bachelor of Technology is an undergraduate academic degree in the United Kingdom, India, Ireland and other countries. It is awarded to those who had undertaken a Bachelor of Science degree with additional industrial placements. Due to the placements, the degree normally takes at least four years. The degree is no longer awarded in the UK (those who take such degrees now are normally just awarded a Bachelor of Science). The degree is still awarded in India and Ireland. The official abbreviation for Bachelor of Technology is BTech (in Ireland irrespective of ordinary/honours) (or BTech(Hons) if it is awarded with honours). Care should be taken not to confuse it with the Business & Technical Education Council (BTEC), which was the name of an awards council and the qualification it awarded (lesser to a BTech) in the UK. BTEC functions have now been overtaken by Edexcel. In Australia, a Bachelor of Technology often covers material similar to that in a Bachelor of Engineering although it is a three year, rather than a four year degree. Completion of a degree accredited by the Institution entitles the graduate to become a Technologist Member of the Institution of Engineers, Australia with the post-nominals TMIEAust. ==See Also== * Bachelor's degree * British degree abbreviations Bachelor's degrees See other meanings of words starting from letter: BBA | BC | BD | BE | BF | BG | BH | BI | BJ | BK | BL | BM | BN | BO | BP | BR | BS | BT | BU | BW | BX | BY | BZ |Words begining with Bachelor_of_Technology: Bachelor_of_Technology
