BTEC

The Business & Technology Education Council (BTEC) of the United Kingdom was a subdegree conferring council which had its functions transferred to Edexcel recently. The council offered further education and higher education education awards, particularly to polytechnics, and in particular the ''BTEC Nationals'' and ''BTEC Higher Nationals'' awards which remain prominent. BTEC was formed in 1984 from the Business Education Council (BEC) and the Technician Education Council (TEC) later in 1996 ''University of London Examinations & Assessment Council'' (''ULEAC'') and BTEC merged to form Edexcel.
