Ayatanas

This Theravada buddhist term sometimes refers to arupajhanas. But most of the time it means the twelve basis for the mental processes.

* Eye and visible object (see : light)
* Ear and sound
* Nose and odor
* Tongue and taste
* Body and touch
* Consciousness and representations

Buddhism mentions six senses when Occident usually considers only five.
