Ashley PomeroyMy full name is Ashley Mark Pomeroy. I was born in 1976, in Salisbury, a small town in the south of Wiltshire, in England. I grew up in the middle of the countryside; a place where, contrary to popular belief, there are relatively few Satanists. No, the people of Wiltshire worship things which predate contemporary religion. We will bury religions which worship man, or Gods made in the image of man. You are so limited, to base your behaviour on words and pictures. The land will remain. I am conservative, with a small c; I do not support any particular political party or movement. None of them inspire me, and I suspect that any party that happened to do so would never come to power, in which case it would be a waste of time supporting them. I believe in justice and liberty. I believe that it is as bad to be oppressed by criminals as it is by government. I believe in being fair. I believe in owning property. I believe in the right to defend oneself, one's home, and one's family. My greatest wish is to die peacefully of old age in my own bed in my own house. I do not want to die on a hospital trolley in a corridor with strangers. I do not believe it is noble to suffer; I believe it is stupid. I believe that some things are worth fighting for, and some things are worth fighting against. Justice does not arise naturally, it has to be made. I believe that the government doesn't really care whether you live or die; only that it remains in power. The government will lie, and cheat, and steal, and do everything in its power to ensure that it remains in power. It will send you to your death rather than lose face, just to look good. I believe that revolution, over time, becomes as stagnant as the thing it replaced; there is no solution, really, to the problem of government. We just have to muddle along. I believe that we eventually tend to become the things we hate, if we spend too long hating, if we hate too hard. I believe that quite a lot of people enjoy causing pain, of having and abusing power over others, and that these people should have concrete slabs dropped on them, they should be crushed like rats. And that isn't just going to happen, it has to be done, by you and I. I believe that discussion, whether on the internet or in real life, tends to revolve around an ''idealistic'' view of the word. I believe it is better to discuss the world as it is, in a ''practical'' sense. The real world is harsh, and does not work according to your plan. There are people out there who enjoy hurting other people, and who will not stop if they are exposed; they will carry on, until it pleases them to stop. They are in control. I have no time for ignorant fools, liars, con-men, poseurs, cloth-eared nincompoops or bastards. I respect people who are good. I respect people who believe what they say, even though I might disagree violently with what they say. Subject to all the above conditions and beliefs I also believe that you should not enter an argument with a closed mind; but there is a difference between having an open mind, and being a gullible fool. Be proud of your opinions, back them up, but do so from a position of righteousness, rather than simply being a bully. I believe in justice and order as the default, with injustice and disorder as a choice you must make yourself; and if you so choose, you should be punished. I do not believe that people should have to live in fear and misery as a matter of course. I believe that good things take more effort than bad things, and that if good people do not act everything falls apart, rather than falling together. I believe you should question people, question the people doing the questioning, question yourself. Question your questions. == My Wikipedia Mission Statement == "''I desire to assist in the creation of something excellent, worthwhile and persistent. I sincerely hope that Wikipedia becomes all of those things; in return, I ask that you do not let me down.''" Ashley PomeroyAssuming I've done this correctly, all discussion up to 17/05/05 is here: User talk:Ashley Pomeroy/Archive1. After rooting around Wikipedia's help system, I couldn't find guidance as to how one goes about archiving old talk pages, so I have simply moved the old page to 'Archive1' and started afresh. In answer to some of the questions posted here: - Yes, I did buy some new trousers. They were £3, from Matalan, where I am not ashamed to shop. They are jeans, with orange stitches down the sides and around the turn-ups. ::Excellent choice User:Brookie 19:22, 17 May 2005 (UTC) - Carrots, mostly. - I do not drink in pubs. I drink at home, where I am less inhibited by social constraints. I can only really speak my word when I am at home. - "Spondylolisthesis", "Spondylosis", and "Spondylolysis". - I actually have a soft spot for "Trans", his 'synth-pop' album. == Alice Springs == My apologies in commenting out your amendments too - I hadn't realised that there had been further edits when I pressed the save button. I think we are on the same wave length as far as verifiability of this sort of information. I do not wish to deny the sorts of assertions made by the eiditor but it is too easy to be emotional and I think accordingly the sorts of comments made about the population need to be particularly well-referenced. Your pursuit of references for the proportion of aborigines in the population was exactly what I had in mind. Regards--User:AYArktos 00:49, 23 May 2005 (UTC) ==Thanks for your support== Thank you for voting on my RFA. Have some PI! I was pleasantly surprised by the sheer number of supporters (including several people that usually disagree with my opinion). I shall do my best with the proverbial mop. Yours, User:Radiant!User_talk:Radiant!>|<">meta:mergist 08:15, Jun 8, 2005 (UTC) ==Operations Dove and Span== The source for my entries are the official United State Army histories (commonly called the Green Book Series) of World War II. While certainly obscure (they are more fun that way) the operations did in fact happen. Please feel free to check my contributions to see more even more arcane operations. If I can be of any help to you with this, please drop me a line. User:PaulinSaudi 17:03, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC) Ashley, as for myself, I feel no need for a 'references' cite on that page. Please feel free to add it if you like (you have to love Wiki!). I did much of the WWII research for the book at the (US) Army Command and Staff College at Fort Leavenworth. As I am now away from a good library, I am unable to provide bibliographic footnote. User:PaulinSaudi 12:58, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC) ==W. Mark Felt== Salve! I nominated W. Mark Felt as a WP:FAC. As you commented on the article's talk page, I'd appreciate your comments at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/W. Mark Felt. User:PedanticallySpeaking 15:00, Jun 17, 2005 (UTC) == Misleading place names == I've just reverted your change, and I thought that I should explain here rather than on what's an already hectic Talk page. Aside from the use of "that" (which we could discuss, I suppose), I'm pretty sure that the New York in Lincolnshire post-dates the American one. The Lincs one is small, and I it doesn't have a building later than the late nineteenth century.
