Amenemhat IAmenemhat I was the first ruler of the twelth dynasty (the dynasty debated to be the beginning of the middle kingdom of Egpyt). Amenemhet I was not of royal lineage, and hence took measures to assure the authority of his kingship. Such including literary works (the Prophecy of Neferti) and the revertion to the pyramid style complexes of the VIth dynasty rulers. Amenemhet I also moved the capital from Thebes to Lisht. His son Senusret I followed a similar path to Amenemhet by building his pyramid at Lisht although his son, the next ruler of Egpyt - Amenemhet II, did not follow this tradition. Senusret I 's pyramid is a closer reflection of the VIth dynasty pyramids than that of Amenemhet I. Amenemhet I and Senusret I are thought to have shared a joint reign (Egyptian Coregencies) of at least 10 years, with Amenemhet I celebrating his jubilee (30 years of rule) 1 year after they began their joint reign. ---- ---- Ancient Egypt Pharaohs See other meanings of words starting from letter: AAB | AC | AD | AE | AF | AG | AH | AI | AJ | AK | AL | AM | AN | AO | AP | AR | AS | AT | AU | AW | AX | AY | AZ |Words begining with Amenemhat_I: Amenemhat_I Amenemhat_II Amenemhat_III Amenemhat_III Amenemhat_IV
