AOHack programs were add-on programs to America Online that violated their Terms of Service, performed illegal activities, and disrupted the service. These programs, like AOHell (the first), were normally made in Visual Basic versions 3.0 and 4.0. Rare programs that were not distributed widely were made in Delphi or C++. The Visual Basic AOHack programs often would use stolen code from other AOHack programs. The "warez" rooms of the mid to late 1990s have all but vanished, and the AOHack programs have been relegated to the history of AOL. AOL has also moved away from its proprietary RAINMAN software and begun to focus more on the World Wide Web. As AOL grew in popularity and power, the private rooms used to distribute the programs (server,server2,etc.) became banned, and AOL employees under names such as CATWATCH01 helped eliminate much of these problems.
